Claims Handler - Theft

What you’ll be doing

You’ll have your own portfolio of claims to handle through to settlement. Most of these claims will be where our customer’s vehicle has been stolen or damaged due to a fire. You’ll be gathering information, identifying irregularities and recommending appropriate actions. Where appropriate, you’ll liaise with the customer to settle their claim. You will also handle potential fraudulent first party claims and will be required to complete investigations which may result in the claim proceeding to settlement or repudiation.

Training 

Excellent training is provided! Your corporate induction will be completed in the first 8 days followed by a 10 week training programme which is all completed onsite. This will help you understand the role, give you the best start and tools in your career. You’ll have the opportunity to move to hybrid working once competent in the role.

You’ll be responsible for 

  • Providing excellent service to our customers on the telephone and in writing
  • Guiding the customer through the claims process 
  • Handling your own portfolio of claims
  • Identifying indemnity concerns
  • Identifying potential fraud and completing the necessary investigations
  • Where applicable, you’ll be agreeing settlement of the customer’s claim
  • Supporting colleagues by providing assistance and sharing knowledge  
  • Achieving strategic objectives through departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) 

You’ll need

  • A passion for delivering an excellent customer service experience and finding the best outcome for our customers
  • To be proficient in technology, particularly Microsoft Office. You will frequently multitask and use multiple systems simultaneously to perform your responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with effective listening and empathy
  • Strong attention to detail
  • To have an interest in identify fraud and be able to identify irregularities in the claim
  • To be able to make decisions based on the information presented
  • To be a team player

And if you have this, even better

  • Previous experience in customer service within a call centre is preferred however, transferable skillsets within an applicable customer service environment are equally valued e.g. retail, hospitality or leisure  
  • Previous experience in handling motor claims
  • CII qualification
