Management Accountant

Location - Bristol
Employment Type - Full Time - Fixed Term
Salary - £48,000 - £55,000 per annum
Hours Per Week - 37.5

We are recruiting for a Management Accountant to join us on a 9-month fixed term contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

The Management Accountant will take responsibility for the production of monthly management accounts and detailed financial analysis. This role supports the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing valuable financial insights to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production of accurate and timely monthly management accounts and supporting schedules in accordance with relevant standards and regulations (Profit and loss, Balance sheet reporting).
  • Analysis of key income and cost streams vs historical records and forecasts/budgets providing insights and recommendations.
  • Maintaining financial records – post appropriate journals and raise invoices to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations – perform balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Accruals and Prepayments – prepare monthly accruals, prepayments, accrued and deferred income to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Liaising with other team accountants to ensure that inter-company balances are reconciled and agreed on a monthly basis.
  • Ensuring receipts and payments are correct from / to insurers, payments are made in the agreed terms.
  • Assisting in the production of year end audits (and any company specific audits) and liaise with auditors to resolve queries in a timely manner.
  • Stakeholder Communication - present financial reports to senior management and provide advice on financial matters impacting the company.
  • Preparation and/or review of Client Money Calculations as required (SBISL accountant only).
  • Bordereaux preparation - prepare monthly bordereaux for underwriters, ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements (MGA accountant only).
  • Payments authorisation on bank portals.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • ACCA, CIMA, ACA
  • 4+ years PQE
  • Proven experience in financial and management accounting roles, demonstrating the ability to handle complex financial tasks.
  • Ability to be flexible and organised when dealing with conflicting deadlines, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, ensuring financial records are error-free and compliant with regulations.
  • Good level of numeracy for performing calculations, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members and stakeholders. This includes the ability to explain financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and unsupervised, demonstrating reliability and initiative,
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, is essential for data analysis, creating spreadsheets, and performing calculations.
  • Willingness to learn and take on greater responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical skills are advantageous for interpreting financial data, identifying trends, and making informed decisions. This includes the ability to analyse complex information and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand and navigate complex business environments.
