Compliance Coordinator

Location - Bristol
Employment Type - Full Time - Permanent
Salary - Up to £30,000 depending on experience
Hours Per Week - 37.5

We are recruiting for a Compliance Co-ordinator to assist in the management of First Line governance, and to help manage a framework that promotes the embedding of structures and processes that improve the provision of Governance, Risk and Compliance services across different business areas.

The ideal candidate will have previously worked within the Insurance sector, this will help with understanding compliance requirements and growing a career within compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the First Line Compliance & Risk team and business areas in effectively managing compliance risks faced by the business.
  • Manage the team mailbox, allocating and dealing with requests as appropriate.
  • Review relevant registers and versioned documents in an effective and efficient way for appropriate business areas.
  • Gain an understanding of the FCA handbook
  • Assisting business areas implement the rules and principles of all relevant regulators into policies, procedures and processes.
  • Promoting a culture of rigorous thinking and controls to satisfy SBG risk appetite statements and enable sustainable business growth.
  • Work on our regulated entity’s Fair Value Assessments.
  • Keep our regulated entity’s Operational Resilience, Business Continuity Planning, and Wind Down Planning up to date.
  • Gain an understanding of the UK and EU Data Protection and privacy legislation.
  • Stay up to date on industry developments through horizon scanning.
  • Be able to question and direct stakeholders on governance issues and be a point of contact for the First Line Compliance & Risk team.
  • Proactively identify, manage and mitigate business risks encountered as part of day to day role.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience of working in a regulated environment and applying relevant regulations
  • Understanding of the insurance market and relevant products and services
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Able to work with autonomy and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy to work outputs at all times
  • Ability to work in organised manner with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all business areas
  • Ability to travel to South Africa occasionally.
