IT Infrastructure Manager

Location - Bristol
Employment Type - Full Time - Permanent
Salary - Up to £65,000 per annum
Hours Per Week - 37.5

The IT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s IT infrastructure, ensuring all systems, networks, and cloud services are running efficiently and securely. The role involves managing the day-to-day infrastructure, leading a team of technical experts, ensuring uptime and performance, and driving infrastructure projects. This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to collaborate with other business and IT teams, and a commitment to delivering excellent service levels to the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Operations

  • Manage the daily operations of IT infrastructure including servers, storage, networks, and cloud environments.
  • Ensure uptime, availability and performance of IT systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
  • Oversee disaster recovery and backup processes to ensure business continuity.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor and manage the Infrastructure team.
  • Assign tasks, manage workloads and ensure team members meet performance expectations.
  • Facilitate professional development and skills training for the team.

Process Management

  • Implement and optimise ITIL-based processes for incident, problem and change management.
  • Drive process improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce incidents.
  • Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded.

Project Management

  • Plan and manage infrastructure projects such as upgrades, migrations and deployments.
  • Define project scope, timelines and budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for procurement and support.

Security & Compliance

  • Collaborate with IT Compliance to ensure infrastructure is secure and compliant with industry regulations.
  • Manage regular security audits, patch management and vulnerability assessments in accordance with the Vulnerability Management framework.

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers to ensure effective collaboration and service delivery.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for infrastructure-related issues, ensuring timely resolutions.

Efficiency & Reporting

  • Drive initiatives to improve operational efficiencies within the Infrastructure team.
  • Prepare and present monthly reports on infrastructure performance, project status and service metrics to management.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Management or similar roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field. OR equivalent experience.
  • Desirable certifications:
  1. ITIL V4 Foundation or higher.
  2. Project Management Professional (PMP)
  3. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Proven experience leading and managing technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, servers, storage, and virtualisation technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure monitoring tools.
