Financial Crime Manager

Somerset Bridge Group are seeking a Financial Crime Manager who will play a pivotal role in the establishment and evolution of the financial crime department within our insurance group. This is a newly created area of the business, and we seek a dynamic, forward-thinking leader to develop and manage our financial crime strategies, controls and measures.

Responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and enhancing the overall resilience of the organisation against financial crime threats.

Location: This role can be based in our Bristol or Newcastle office, with a hybrid working pattern.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial crime processes and procedures tailored to the insurance industry.
  • Ensure that the business can demonstrate adherence to the Financial Crime Policy, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate against a variety of Financial Crime risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential and changing financial crime threats and vulnerabilities within the organisation.
  • Oversee the investigation and resolution of financial crime incidents.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, law enforcement, and industry associations, to ensure alignment and compliance with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, techniques, and regulatory changes in the field of financial crime and proactively adapt strategies to address new challenges.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on financial crime risks, incidents, and mitigation efforts.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the awareness and capabilities of staff in identifying and preventing financial crime.
  • Foster a culture of vigilance and proactive risk management within the organisation.
  • Resource management – assess and manage resource to ensure targets and deadlines are achieved. 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Proven financial crime or fraud prevention, investigation, and compliance, working in an FCA regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in financial crime.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of proactive engagement with Senior Managers as well as experience of working with different departments across the group
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think creatively whilst developing and delivering solutions.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team is desirable
