Claims Controller

Somerset Bridge are recruiting for a Claims Controller to manage a department, within the Claims Business to ensure the delivery of a high quality and cost-effective service to our customers in accordance with company policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to a team of claims staff and Team Managers.
  • Work in partnership with the Head of Department to deliver the strategic goals and projects within your reporting area
  • Provide guidance to direct reports and wider claims teams.
  • Drive the teams to achieve targets and ultimately operational goals.
  • Support and develop Team Managers so that they maximize their contribution and potential.
  • Ensure claims costs are managed and KPIs are enhanced and achieved.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure we get the best out of our partnerships
  • Consider share and explore ideas that will improve performance
  • Deputise for Head of Department.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience of working in a regulatory environment
  • Technical knowledge of Claims, preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of insurance products and services preferred but not essential
  • Understand industry and employment legislation.
  • Understand industry standards and protocol.
  • Market risk and business awareness.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Resource planning and Manage workflows
  • Proactive/ Flexible
  • Presenting ideas
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Suite
  • Project management
