Risk Oversight Manager
We are recruiting for a Risk Oversight Manager to join our Group Risk & Assurance department. The role reports into the Head of Risk and takes a leading role in the provision of 2nd Line of defence oversight to the business and assists with the implementation and embedding of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF). The Risk Oversight Manager will consult with relevant stakeholders across SBG to support and challenge the identification, assessment, monitoring, management and reporting of key risk exposures within the group.
Key Responsibilities:
With the Group Head of Risk:
- Support implementation and embedding of the risk management framework through the provision of advice, guidance, and interpretation of risk management requirements per the risk management framework.
- Support the business in identifying and documenting key risk exposure – both near term and tail exposures.
- Support the business in their assessment of the key risk exposures, providing challenge where required to ensure assessments are reflective of the true exposure to SBG.
- Use various practical methods, including review of key indicators, assurance outputs, and issue/action progress, to monitor the key risk exposures to the organisation.
- Support the business in defining effective and proportionate strategies (issues, actions, controls) to allow them to manage key risk exposures.
- Provide high quality key risk reporting, ensuring key risk exposures are documented and escalated appropriately within SBG governance (including preparing reports and recommendations).
- Conduct oversight reviews, producing reports, memos, or papers where areas for improvement have been identified including proactively seeking and recommending enhancements to control processes.
- Ensure the team proactively discuss and manage key priorities collaborating across disciplines for better overall outcomes.
Required Skills/Experience:
Essential:
- Significant experience in one or more of the following areas: risk oversight / partnering of 1st Line Functions, risk management framework delivery/implementation, internal/external audit, and/or compliance.
- Proven experience in successfully engaging with and managing senior stakeholders both individually and through key governance, such as senior committees.
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills to:
- Draft and present detailed concise analysis to stakeholders.
- Convey technical or complex concepts to others in a clear and understandable manner gaining their buy in and support.
- Provide and deliver engaging training, coaching and education on key topics to stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively lead on and prioritise individual and colleague workloads, overseeing multiple priorities proactively.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to drive team cohesion and collaboration.
- Ability to create and maintain logical, well-documented records, and identify and follow applicable governance / version control.
- Ability to be self-sufficient and work independently, driving the appropriate priorities within the team and individual workload.
Desirable:
- Experience in Financial Services and/or Insurance Services is preferred but not mandatory.
Qualifications:
Have or be studying towards/have equivalent experience:
- Applicable recognised risk management qualification(s) e.g., Certificate in Operational Risk Management, International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management etc.
